Coates attempts to dis­cov­er pre­vi­ously unex­plored cap­ab­il­it­ies of his vocal expres­sion under water. Without air his rep­er­toire was lim­ited to cer­tain phys­ic­al move­ments that could gen­er­ate vocal sound, these res­ul­ted in sounds not dis­sim­il­ar to the vocal expres­sions of oth­er mam­mals that are sea dwelling.
